[origin: WO2008028736A1] A compressor comprises a cylinder (15) in which a compressor chamber (14) having a circular cross-section is configured. Inlet and outlet openings (18, 19) for a medium to be compressed are configured in a face wall (12) of the cylinder (15). The compressor also comprises a reciprocating piston (32) which reciprocates inside the compressor chamber (14), said piston having an expulsion projection (33) on its surface facing the face wall (12). Said projection engages in the outlet opening (18) in a dead center position of the reciprocating piston (32). The longitudinal axis of the cylinder (15) runs through the outlet opening (18).
