Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2066096A1] An apparatus facilitates communications between first (14) and second (24) entities via a network. The first entity (14) cooperates with a first interface unit (16) to communicate via the network using a first protocol. The second entity (24) cooperates with a second interface unit (26) to communicate via the network using a second protocol. The network does not support communications using at least one of the first and second protocols. The apparatus includes: (a) a first converter (30) coupled with the first entity (14) for emulating the cooperative relation between the second entity (24) and the second interface unit (26) to convert communications from the first entity (14) into a common protocol; and (b) a second converter (40) coupled with the second entity (24) for emulating the cooperative relation between the first entity (14) and the first interface unit (16) to convert communications from the second entity (24) into the common protocol. The first and second converters (30;40) communicate via the network using the common protocol.
