[origin: WO2008037372A1] The invention relates to a vibration damper (1), comprising a damping-medium-filled cylinder (3) in which a piston rod (5) with a piston (7) is guided in an axially movable fashion, wherein the piston (7) divides the cylinder (3) into two working spaces (9;11) and the volume which is displaced in the event of a piston rod movement flows through at least one damping valve (15;17;19;21) and is compensated by a compensating space (23) which is connected to at least one of the working spaces, wherein in addition to the compensating space (23), a functional element (27) is connected to at least one working space, wherein the functional element (27) elastically absorbs high-frequency vibrations within the damping medium.
