Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2009050151A1] The invention relates to an overvoltage arrester having at least one arresting element, particularly a varistor, and having a disconnect device in order to disconnect and/or short-circuit the arresting element or elements from the grid, wherein the disconnect device comprises a fusible point, particularly a solder point, integrated in the electrical connection path within the arrester, wherein a displaceable conductor segment is connected via the fusible point to the arrester element on one side, and the conductor segment is connected on the other side to a first exterior connection, and a means for generating a pretensioning force, particularly a spring, wherein the force vector acts directly or indirectly on the conductor segment in the direction of disconnection, further comprising a conductive element, the first end of which is connected to a second electrical exterior connection, and the second end of which can be brought into contact with the conductor segment. According to the invention, a stop device that can be thermally triggered is in the motion path of the conductor segment, between the fusible point and the conductive element, said device implementing a staged functionality with regard to disconnecting and short-circuiting the respective arrester element.
