Abstract (en)
An injector clamping sub-assembly (10) for clamping to a cylinder head (80) of an internal combustion engine, comprising a fuel injector (11) having an injector body (12), a projecting inlet portion (18) and an outlet portion (86), and a fuel rail body (14) having a bore (20) adapted to receive the projecting inlet portion (18) and connect the inlet portion (18) within the fuel rail body (14). Two wave washers (26, 28) disposed between the injector body (12) and fuel rail body (14) urge the injector body (12) and fuel rail body (14) apart. Indexing and connecting portions (48, 50) disposed on the injector (11) correctly locate and orientate the injector (11) with the fuel rail body (14) and retain the injector (11) therein whilst allowing relative movement therebetween. The wave washers (26, 28) provide the sub-assembly (10) with a desired preload for clamping the sub-assembly (10) to a cylinder head (80). A fuel injection system comprising such an injector clamping sub-assembly (10) and a connecting part (16) for arrangement on the projecting inlet portion (18) of an injector (11) are also provided.
