[origin: EP2072907A2] The device has a suction unit (7) with a housing (70) that is fixedly mounted at a wall (2) or in an installation opening (20) of the wall. A suction fan (8) is accommodated in the housing for suction of cooking vapors from a cooking place. A suction panel (3) has a suction surface for the cooking vapors. The suction panel is in connection with the suction unit. The suction panel is pivotable relative to the suction unit from a non-usage position to a usage position using a drive device with a motor (11) e.g. linear motor. The panel is connected to the drive device.
