[origin: EP2072909A2] The device has a suction unit (7) including a suction blower (8) for extracting cooking steam of a cooking site. An intake surface with a number of lamellas (4a-4c) that are moved form non use condition to use condition, where the lamellas lock the intake surface in the non use condition. The lamella releases the intake surface in the use condition. An intake panel (3) is pivoted relative to the suction unit from the non use condition to the use condition and is movably arranged within the lamellas. The motion of the intake panel is combined with motion of the lamellas.
