The apparatus has a pair of rollers (5, 6) guiding along a transport belt (2) in the form of a driven, wide and tensioned flat belt both over a printing module and under the printing module placed in a printing position. A change position for a pair of ink cartridges (11, 12) is located before a transport region on a front side of a printing apparatus or above the transport region of a transport apparatus (1). A transverse movement device (27) moves the printing module transversely relative to a transport direction of items of mail.

Vorrichtung zum Wechseln von Tintenkartuschen einer Druckvorrichtung, die eine Transportvorrichtung für flache Güter, eine Andruckvorrichtung und einen Druckmodul aufweist, wobei die Transportvorrichtung ortsfest in der Druckvorrichtung gegenüber einer Andruckvorrichtung angeordnet ist, welche das Poststück an das Transportband andrückt, welches im Transportbereich mit einer vorbestimmten Haftreibung auf einen Teil der Oberfläche der Poststückes einwirkt, welcher nicht bedruckt wird, wobei sich eine Wechselposition für Tintenkartuschen vor dem Transportbereich an der Vorderseite der Druckvorrichtung oder über dem Transportbereich einer entsprechend ausgebildeten Transportvorrichtung befindet.
