Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2008037495A2] The invention relates to a bus system comprising a bus to which at least one master, an output slave, and a safety monitor are connected. The output slave controls an output switch. The safety monitor controls a main switch that is serially connected to the output switch. A consumer is connected to a power supply via said switches. The master specifies the desired switched state of the output switch to the output slave by means of a control command. The output slave reads the control command and reports the desired switched state contained therein back to the bus. A time element delays the execution of the control command for a predefined waiting period. The safety monitor makes a positive assessment, according to which the reported desired switched state is safe, or makes a negative assessment, according to which the reported desired switched state is not safe. The main switch is opened and the consumer is thus isolated from the power supply when the assessment is negative. The waiting period is calculated such that the main switch is already open before the output switch responds to a control command when the assessment is negative.
