[origin: EP2077504A1] In a data packet transmission and reception system including a transmit buffer and a receive buffer and transmitting and receiving a data packet, the number of data packets receivable at the receive buffer is dynamically changed depending on the size of a data packet to be transmitted and received, so that resources of the receive buffer are used efficiently without creating an unused area in the capacity of the receive buffer as much as possible. This prevents discarding of a data packet due to the overflow at the receive buffer, achieving the same performance as in conventional technique by using less resources than those in conventional control technique.
