The tool (1) e.g. crimping pliers (2), has crimping jaws (5) building a nest (45) for a connecting element. Hand levers (3, 4) manually apply crimping forces to move the jaws. The hand levers are located in a plane (50) that is aligned with a longitudinal axis (14) of the nest and divided into two half-planes (51, 53) by the longitudinal axis. A transfer/transmission unit transfers translational activation along the longitudinal axis in the force flow between the hand levers and the crimping jaws into rotational activation around the longitudinal axis.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Presswerkzeug zum Verpressen von Verbindungselementen wie z. B. Kabelendhülsen, Rundsteckern, Kabelschuhen oder Kontaktbuchsen auf elektrische Leiter oder für dünnwandige Rohrverbindungen. Bekannt sind Presswerkzeuge, sogenannte Crimpzangen, bei denen entweder das Verbindungselement quer zu der Ebene, in welcher die Handhebel (3, 4) verschwenkt werden, in eine durch Pressbacken (5) gebildete Aufnahme (45) eingesetzt wird. Andererseits sind Crimpzangen bekannt, bei welchen die Handhebel ungefähr fluchtend zu der durch die Pressbacken gebildeten Aufnahme angeordnet sind. Erfindungsgemäß ist ein Presswerkzeug in erster Näherung "pistolenartig" ausgebildet, wobei Handhebel (3, 4) in einer Halbebene (51) angeordnet und bewegt werden, die durch die Längsachse (14-14) geteilt ist.
