Abstract (en)
A sewing machine foot of the invention includes: a foot mounting portion (44) for fixing to a pressing rod (14) of a sewing machine; a pressing portion (46) for pressing a sewing object product when a sewing needle (12) pieces; and an element guide groove (46) for guiding an element row (9) of a slide fastener (8) by inserting the element row therein, the sewing machine further including: a swing arm (47) which is supported by a foot mounting portion (44) swingablly relative to the foot mounting portion (44) and swings in a vertical plane parallel to a sewing line (28) at the time of sewing; and urging means (52) disposed between the foot mounting portion (44) and the swing arm (47), for urging the swing arm (47) to the sewing object product relative to the foot mounting portion (44). Consequently, the element row (9) of the slide fastener (8) can be guided both when the sewing needle (12) pierces and when a seam is formed, so that a thick fabric (6) and a concealed slide fastener (8) which are difficult to sew together can be positioned accurately and sewed together.
