Abstract (en)
A method and apparatus for calibrating a video display overlay (24). The method includes the steps of providing calibration indicia (34, 34'), providing an image capture device (12) and an image processor (14) operatively connected to the image capture device (12), positioning the image capture device (12) with respect to the calibration indicia (34, 34'), capturing an image (40) of the calibration indicia (34, 34') using the image capture device (12), analyzing the image (40) using the image processor (14) to identify the portions of the image (40) that correspond to the calibration indicia (34, 34'), outputting the result as calibration indicia position data (42, 45), and calculating a calibration data set (44, 48, 62, 64) based on the calibration indicia position data (42, 45) using the image processor (14). The apparatus includes calibration indicia (34, 34'), an image capture device (12) directed toward the calibration indicia (34, 34') for providing a reference image (40), and an image processor (14) electrically connected to the image capture device (12).
