[origin: WO2008046679A1] The invention relates to an injector for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber (3) of an internal combustion engine, having an injector housing (9) in which is held a control valve (5) for activating an injection valve element (7) which opens or closes off at least one injection opening (11), wherein the control valve (5) comprises a valve piston (39), by means of which a connection from a control space (25) into a fuel return line (27) can be opened or closed off. The valve piston (39) comprises an annular seat face (41) which can be placed into a seat (43). A shoulder (55; 93) is formed on the valve piston (39), which shoulder (55; 93) is arranged on the high-pressure side of the valve piston (39) in such a way that the pressure force exerted by the fuel on the shoulder (55; 93) assists the closing movement of the valve piston (39).
