Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2080829A1] An embroidery base fabric having a mass per unit area of from 25 to 300 g/m 2 and a water dissolution temperature of from 0 to 100°C. The embroidery base fabric satisfies the following conditions 1 to 3 at the same time: (1) the embroidery base fabric is a laminate comprising a layer A constituted from a drylaid nonwoven fabric made of water-soluble fibers and a layer B made of water-soluble short cut fibers having a fiber length of from 1 to 30 mm in which the layers A and B are bonded to each other through a foamed aqueous solution containing a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin; (2) a weight ratio of the layer A to the layer B (A:B) is from 50:50 to 90:10; and (3) a ratio of a breaking strength in a machine direction of the embroidery base fabric to a breaking strength in a transverse direction thereof is from 0.75 to 1.25. The embroidery base fabric has a good texture even when the mass per unit area is small and has a good softness and an excellent dimensional stability.
