[origin: EP2081208A1] The device (10) has a housing (12) forming a pressure chamber (40), and two separator pistons (44) arranged in the pressure chamber. The separator pistons are moved in different directions during impact with a pressure impulse relative to the housing to separate current conductors (14) arranged in the housing. The pressure impulse is produced by a pyromechanical drive element (20), where the pyromechanical drive element and the separator pistons are extended in a plane. The separator pistons form an angle with the plane, and comprise a separation tool (48) for separating an electrical circuit.
