[origin: EP2082982A2] The wrapping device (1) has bearer drums (2,3) which support the winding reel to be wound during the wrapping process and partly clasped by the material web (M). A separating device (11) is arranged on the outer peripheries (6,7) of the bearer drum in a clasping area (16) by the material web. The separating device is formed as mechanical separating device consisting of a separating element (13) in the form of a cutting device.
