Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2442462A] To move a wheelchair from a position adjacent a seat of a vehicle 202 to a stowed position on the roof, a hoist system clamped to the car root comprises a lifting member 206, a winch cable 212 and an actuating means 210. Attachment means for attaching the winch cable to the wheelchair is arranged such that when the wheelchair is raised the wheelchair is caused to rotate about a longitudinal axis. The wheelchair is electrically-powered and has three wheels. It has a central longitudinal frame member which contains the battery.
