[origin: WO2008062128A1] The invention relates to an equipment for an automotive vehicle (10) for protecting pedestrians in case of frontal collision, comprising: a support member in the shape of a deformable beam (23) having an essentially horizontal and transverse orientation, a fitting member (22) for the beam (23) and a compartment (26) containing an airbag provided between the fitting member (22) and the transverse deformable beam (23) and capable of expansion in response to the detection of an imminent collision; and a shock bar (16) parallel to and underneath said beam, characterised in that the shock bar (16) includes at least one transverse section (17) capable of longitudinal translation from a rear rest position to a front position for absorbing the shock of a pedestrian, the translation being triggered simultaneously with the expansion of the airbag.
