Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2008049550A2] The invention relates to a method for ascertaining the authenticity of a printed product, in which a printed code is detected by means of an area or line camera. The recorded code can be evaluated with regard to random fluctuations of the substrate or of the printed image and can be stored in a data memory. By means of data processing it is possible to process the code for verification of the authenticity of the printed product. For better applicability of the method, the code is detected in web- or sheet-processing machines. Printing machines, stamping machines, folded box adhesive bonding machines, collating machines, packaging lines, erecting machines for folded boxes or filling machines can be considered for the applications according to the invention.
