Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2449565A] A lifting apparatus comprises a first member 23 having an elongate slot therein, a second member 26 spaced from the first member by a support column 25 and first and second securing members 28 slidably mounted in the slot in the first member on opposite sides of the support column, the securing members including means (33 figure 4) for engaging with a member to be lifted (2 figure 1), means 31 for engaging with the first member 23 and means (29, 30 figure 4) for adjusting an effective length of the securing member so as to urge the member (2 figure 1) to be lifted against an underside of the second member 26. The means (33 figure 4) to engage with the member to be lifted (2 figure 1) may be in the form of an array of key members from which a appropriate key may be selected. The lifting apparatus may be engaged by a telescopic lifting bar (4 figure 1) supported on a tripod (5 figure 1). Alternatively the first member 23 may be supported at either end by a wheeled support (36 figure 10) which may be used to raise and move the member to be lifted (2 figure 1).
