Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2452702A] The present invention relates to a support 10 for a structural member e.g. a post, beam or joist (60 figure 5) so that the support is hidden. The support 10 comprises a ground engaging portion 12 for anchoring the support 10 to the ground support surface or other support structure (100 figure 5), and at least one upstanding portion 20, 30 which, in use, engages with the structural member (60 figure 5). The at least one upstanding portion 20, 30 is received in a recess or aperture (62 figure 5) provided in or on the surface of the structural member (60 figure 5). The present invention also relates to a use of the support 10 for a structural member (60 figure 5), and to a method of supporting a structural member (60 figure 5) using the support 10 and comprisesthe steps of anchoring the support 10 to the ground support surface or other support structure (100 figure 5) using fasteners, and engaging the structural member (60 figure 5) with the at least one upstanding portion 20, 30 of the support 10, and anchoring the structural member (60 figure 5) to the at least one upstanding portion 20, 20 by means of. fasteners.
