[origin: EP2087997A1] The method involves demand-related applying of washing liquids on a brush roller (5). Demand-related employing and stopping of blades (14) are performed to bring the blades in contact with the brush roller or take out from the contact. A rotation direction of the brush roller is changed during a cleaning process in a phase. The brush roller is rotated in synchronization with a cylinder (6) to be cleaned in another phase, where the brush roller rotates in a counter rotation with the cylinder to be cleaned. Applying of the washing liquids is performed in the former phase. An independent claim is also included for a device for cleaning a cylinder of a printing machine.
