[origin: EP2088243A2] The boom (3) has a securement device for fixedly securing a base unit (5) with a bridge laying vehicle (1), and a pivot unit (6) pivotably placed on the base unit. A jib (7) is pivotably attached on the pivot unit, where the jib is movable relative to the base unit. The jib is provided with a locking element (18) for locking a bridge element in a position. A pivoting movement of the pivot unit is relative to the base unit. One end of a pivot unit adjustment device i.e. hydraulic pivot unit cylinder, is supported on the base unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for moving a boom of a laying mechanism of a military bridge laying vehicle into a vehicle transport position.
