An access apparatus (1) is provided, the apparatus (1) comprising a suspension structure (2), a support structure (3) adapted to suspend said suspension structure (2) through an access opening (50), and a platform assembly (4), the platform assembly (4) comprising a platform structure moveable between a stowed position substantially adjacent said suspension structure (2) and a working position extending outwardly from said suspension structure (2), to facilitate suspension and deployment of the access apparatus (1) in a covered cavity or reservoir through a restricted access opening (50).
