[origin: EP2091108A1] The connector has a plug part (1) and a socket part (4), where the parts comprise a housing and electrical and/or light-conducting contacts that are connected with one another. A coding device has two coding units (7, 8) that are pre-mounted at the plug part as a pre-mounted unit. The socket part is designed in such a manner that the coding unit (7) is fixed to the socket part during an axial connection of the plug and socket parts and the coding unit (7) remains connected to the plug part when the plug and socket parts are separated through an axial pulling. An independent claim is also included for a method for coding of a plug connector.
