Abstract (en)

The present invention relates to an implantable stent (10) prosthesis for delivering a biologically active material to a patient. The prosthesis comprises a stent body having a surface adapted for exposure to body tissue of the patient and a coating (30) disposed over at least a portion of the surface of the stent body. The coating comprises a biologically active material selected from the group consisting of anti-thrombogenic agents, anti-angiogenesis agents, anti-proliferative agents, growth factors, radiochemicals, and lovastatin, and a mixture of a first polymer and a second polymer, wherein the first polymer releases the biologically active material at a first rate and the second polymer releases the biologically active material at a second rate, wherein the second rate is slower than the first rate.
