[origin: WO2008037903A1] The present invention relates to a machine and a method for selecting and arranging staves in cask manufacturing. The machine is characterised in that it comprises at least: one input unit (5) including a stave measuring station (6); a storage assembly (7) for storing staves not yet allocated, said system receiving the staves from the input and measuring unit; a calculation unit for selecting the staves among the measured staves in order to create a set of staves ready for assembly into a cask; an output unit (8) related to the storage assembly (7) and provided with a stave redirecting system. The staves used by the machine and in the present method may be dissymmetrical along a horizontal axis. The staves selected by the calculation unit are advantageously delivered to the output unit (8) according to an order and a configuration that allow for an easy assembly of the cask.
