[origin: EP2095951A2] The printing machine has a support (17) of a rotary encoder (7) at a fixed carrier (14) of a printing unit and a rotor (18) of the rotary encoder at a cylinder. The support and the rotor are positioned safely in arbitrary angular allocation in a mechanical manner. The cylinder of the printing unit is arranged over a position allocation unit (22) for the carrier in defined manner. The rotary encoder is referenced over a teach unit (23) after the alignment of the cylinder of the printing unit for carrier. An independent claim is included for a method for starting a printing machine, particularly a sheet-fed printing machine.
