Abstract (en)
The invention relates to a method for heating and melting of a starting material in a furnace by means of at least one burner which is operated with a fuel and an oxygen- containing gas, wherein said starting material contains a metal, especially aluminium, comprising the steps of a) heating said starting material up to the melting point of said metal, b) transforming said metal from the solid phase to the liquid phase, and c) superheating said liquid phase metal, which is characterized in that at least during a part of step b) the output power of said burner is controlled depending on the furnace temperature. Preferably the output power of said burner is a continuous function of the furnace temperature, wherein said burner output power is reduced with increasing furnace temperature.
