[origin: WO2008071547A1] The invention relates to a starting apparatus for a discharge lamp (100) which a spiral line pulse generator (104) and a charging circuit for charging the spiral line pulse generator, with means (108) for rectification of the charging current being arranged in the charging circuit. The starting apparatus equipped with the spiral line pulse generator (104) is therefore suitable for high-frequency operation. In particular, it can be accommodated in the cap of a motor-vehicle headlight high-pressure discharge lamp.
