[origin: WO2008071644A1] Apparatuses for strain relief are already known having at least one connecting plug (2), by means of which electrical contact is made with an individual conductor (3), and having a strain relief element (7) which has a slot to hold the individual conductor. This has the disadvantage that the slot in the strain relief element can hold only a single individual conductor. If further individual conductors were to be inserted into the slot, the interference fit and therefore the effect of strain relief would no longer be ensured. In the case of the apparatus according to the invention, a plurality of individual conductors can be held in a first recess, with an interference fit. The invention provides for the first recess (8) to have at least two areas (11, 12) for holding individual conductors (3, 3.1, 3.2) with different cross sections, with there being a continuous or stepped change in width between the areas (11, 12).
