[origin: WO2008077583A1] The invention relates to a sealing material comprising a planar coating compound made of at least two layers of a graphite film with a maximum density of 1.6 g/cm3 alternating with at least one metallic inlay, wherein the metallic inlay has a three-dimensional structure and has open depressions (4) on one side which are covered by graphite overlays with a thickness in the range of up to a maximum of 5.0 mm, wherein the depressions are enclosed by elevations intersecting in straight lines, and the grid lines (2,3) on both main sides lie approximately on the planes a, b, or the metallic inlay has a holed structure both sides of which are covered by graphite overlays with a thickness in the range of up to a maximum of 5.0 mm, wherein the holes are enclosed by webs and on both main sides lie approximately on the planes a, b, and the hole surface area forms 40% to 90% of the total surface area of the metallic inlay.
