[origin: EP1421999A2] Method for identification, classification and sorting of objects, and materials in which in a first method step, spectral data, e.g. color, chemical properties and spatial data, e.g. shape, dimensions, position and structure are determined for an object, objects or material moving relative to a measurement unit. The measurements are made in two dimensional planes with high spatial resolution and complete spectral resolution in real time. The measured data are used for real-time classification and sorting. The invention also relates to a corresponding recognition system.
