[origin: EP2110476A2] A device for the removal of ballasting material from a ballast bed comprises a mobile bogie, an uptake body incorporated onto the bogie with an uptake surface, as well as an excavating element provided on the bogie. The excavating element is rotationally symmetrical and has a centerline that extends parallel to and at a higher level than the uptake surface of the uptake body.
