[origin: CA2577886C] The invention is a plug without an inserted seal to close the opening of the neck of a container. This plug includes a closure seal around which there is a peripheral skirt sized to fit around the neck. The plug also includes a first circular lip which protrudes under the closure seal near the opening of the neck. This first lip is folded against the neck toward its opening when the plug is affixed. It thus avoids any backflow effect when the container is moved. The plug also includes a second circular lip external from the first, and positioned so that it too, is folded against the neck in the opposite direction to that of the first lip when the plug is affixed. This second lip also protrudes under the closure seal around the first lip and in addition features several teeth or protuberances positioned to form several contact points with the neck when the second lip is in the folded position and thus forms several barrier seals with a staircase effect. The teeth or protuberances, thus conforming to the shape of the neck, absorb the defects and surface scratches due to fabrication imperfections or handling accidents. Advantageously, the first and second lips are linked by a thicker zone to reinforce their rigidity and make them less flexible. Also advantageously, the closure seal has a lower surface featuring a circular depression forming a throat adjacent to the first lip. This creates a fallback space for the first lip and thus ensures easier reflux in case of backflow and thus a better seal.
