[origin: WO2008110486A1] The method for the recovery of bitumen from road covering (asphalt) breakup is characterized by the separation of the bitumen from the remaining components of the road covering, particularly stone material (minerals), by means of a hot salt bath (salt melt). For the uptake and liquefaction of a nitrite-free, heat-conducting salt having a low melting point, preferably of a mixture of LiNO<SUB>3</SUB> / KNO<SUB>3</SUB> (lithium nitrate/potassium nitrate), for the production of a salt melt (2), the device for the execution of said method comprises a preferably groove-shaped basin (1) that can be heated. Supply means (3, 4), having a predetermined breaking value for the road covering breakup are connected upstream of the basin (1). Furthermore, a conveyor worm (5) is arranged in the basin (1) for transporting the road covering breakup through the salt melt (2). At the end of the conveying path of the basin (1), removal tools (6) for skimming and further transporting the bitumen (8) that was separated from the stone material of the remains and floating on top of the salt melt are provided. The invention further comprises discharge means (7) at the end of the conveying path of the basin (1) for the sunken bitumen-free stone material (9) in the salt melt. Due to said measures, practically hundred percent recovery of the bitumen from the asphalt waste is possible.
