Abstract (en)

[origin: FR2912425A1] Detecting and/or identifying Escherichia coli in a biological sample comprises seeding the sample containing E. coli on a detection medium comprising tryptophan and a substrate of enzyme A expressed by majority of the E. coli to obtain bacterial colonies, detecting the colonies expressing the activity of the enzyme A and identifying the E. coli and detecting the colonies that are not expressing the activity of the enzyme A, by carrying an indole test, and identifying the colonies having positive indole test as E. coli. An independent claim is included for the detection medium comprising tryptophan, an enzyme substrate of beta -galactosidase, an enzyme substrate of beta -glucosidase and cellobiose.
