Abstract (en)
[origin: EP2113887A1] The switch has an excitation device (6) generating an alternating magnetic field (B). The switch is constructed such that a coding (9) e.g. binary coding, in a carrier element (8) of a key (7) is scanned by the alternating magnetic field. The coding causes inductance of the excitation device to be changed, and is serially read by the switch using the excitation device during an insertion operation of the key. The excitation device is wound around a coil (4) i.e. planar coil, as a horseshoe shaped yoke (3). The coding is made of electrically conductive and/or magnetizable material. An independent claim is also included for a key including a carrier element.
