[origin: WO2008107515A1] The invention relates to a two-stroke crosshead engine with at least one cylinder (2) and a piston (4) reciprocating therein and provided with a piston rod (5) for transmission of power, said cylinder (2) being provided with inlet means for supplying scavenge air in to the cylinder (2), with means (18) for providing for ignition and combustion during the combustion stroke, and with exhaust valve means (9). The inlet means include channel means (10) for leading scavenge air through the piston into the cylinder (2) and inlet valve means (11,12) arranged on the piston for controlling the supply of scavenge air into the cylinder (2) through the channel means (10).
