[origin: US2010062695A1] An eccentric grinder has a drive which is arranged in a housing and the drive shaft of which drives a supporting shaft of a back-up pad by way of an eccentric mounting. Also provided is a friction braking device, which comprises a friction braking element on the housing and a friction surface on the back-up pad. The friction surface slopes down in the radial direction from the inside to the outside with respect to a horizontal plane that is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the back-up pad.
