[origin: EP2119659A1] The longitudinal strand system (100), for an elevator shaft, has fasteners for attachment to the shaft and is divided into a number of partitions each with a function. It can be of metal, plastics or a compound fiber and plastics material. The partitions include running surface for the elevator cabin guide (102),emergency surfaces (104), braking surfaces (106), protective shrouding (112) for the cabin cables, friction wheels, cogwheels or linear motor components, etc.
