The injector (1) has an injecting valve element (12) axially adjusted by a control valve (31) operated by an actuator (37). An amount of fuel flows from a high pressure region (6) to a low pressure region (34) of the injector through the opened valve. The low pressure region is provided with an injector return connection (7). Cooling holes (45, 48) arranged hydraulically adjacent to the valve is provided in a housing part (11). The holes are located such that a partial volume of the fuel amount flows through the holes before reaching the connection to output heat energy at the housing part. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine comprising a fuel injector.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Kraftstoff-Injektor (1), insbesondere einen Common-Rail-Injektor, zum Einspritzen von Kraftstoff in einen Brennraum einer Brennkraftmaschine, mit mindestens einem Gehäuseteil (11) und mit einem axial verstellbaren Einspritzventilelement (12), welches mittels eines Steuerventils (31) schaltbar ist, welches wiederum mit einem Aktuator (37) betätigbar ist, wobei bei geöffnetem Steuerventil (31) eine Kraftstoffmenge aus einem Hochdruckbereich in einen mit einem Injektorrücklaufanschluss (7) versehenen Niederdruckbereich (34) des Kraftstoff-Injektors (1) strömt. Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass im Gehäuseteil (11) mindestens eine dem Steuerventil (31) hydraulisch nachgeordnete Kühlbohrung (45, 48) vorgesehen ist, die derart angeordnet ist, dass durch diese zumindest ein Teilvolumenstrom der Kraftstoffmenge vor Erreichen des Injektorrücklaufanschlusses (7) strömen und dabei Wärmeenergie an das Gehäuseteil (11) abgeben kann.
