[origin: WO2008107167A1] The invention relates to a device for the separation of a cell suspension, in particular for the isolation of at least one blood component from whole blood, the device comprising a drive unit (12) that has a receiving unit (13) for a centrifuge chamber embodied as a bag (1). The receiving unit (13) for the blood bag has a substantially cylindrical contact surface (15'), which extends around the rotational axis (3) of the drive unit. The bag resting against the cylindrical contact surface defines the shape of a cylinder. A preferred embodiment of the separation device according to the invention provides for a cylindrical contact surface (15') with a radially outward location and a cylindrical contact surface (14') with a radially inward location, between which a gap (16) is formed for inserting the blood bag (1). The blood bag (1) is provided such that it may be handled like a conventional blood donation bag.
