Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2008101569A2] The invention relates to a device for evaporating cryogenic media, and to a method for defrosting an evaporation unit of such a device. The device comprises at least two evaporation units, lines for feeding a process fluid to inlets of the evaporation units and for discharging outflows of the evaporation units to a consumer, wherein the lines are switched such that the evaporation units can be alternately provided with process fluid. This device is characterized in that additional lines are provided for the alternating transfer of process gas from an outlet of one of the two evaporation units to an inlet of the other evaporation unit, wherein a gas heater is disposed in these lines for heating the process gas. If the device is exclusively utilized for evaporation, both evaporation units are connected in parallel. If one of the two evaporation units is defrosted, the two evaporation units are connected in series, wherein the gas heater is disposed between the evaporation units.
