Abstract (en)
Disclosed is a catalyst for carbon fiber production, which enables to efficiently produce a carbon fiber with less impurities. Also disclosed is a carbon fiber exhibiting high electric conductivity and high thermal conductivity, while having excellent dispersibility as filler into resins or the like. Specifically disclosed is a carbon fiber containing at least one element (I) selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co and Ni, at least one element (II) selected from the group consisting of Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Cu, Y, Zr, Nb, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, a lanthanide, Hf, Ta, Re, Os, Ir, Pt and Au, and at least one element (III) selected from the group of W and Mo, wherein the amount of the element (II) and the element (III) each is 1 to 100 % by mol relative to the mols of the element (I).
