[origin: EP2123825A1] The method involves applying a lubricant on an inner side (14) of a roll shell (4) in such a manner that the certain amount of the lubricant is accumulated as a circulating sump (16) before a pressure shoe (5) in a running direction of the shell during spinning of the shell. The application of the lubricant is reduced at a period before opening an extended nip (N) such that more lubricants are used for lubricating a bearing surface (6) of the pressure shoe to remove the sump before opening the extended nip.
