[origin: DE102006061725A1] The device (10) has a distance measuring module (16) for transmitting a high frequency measuring signal for range finding, where the measuring signal lies in a frequency range of greater than or equal to 100 gigahertz. An operating unit (14) activates the range finding, and an output unit (12) reproduces a range finding value. High frequency components generating a measuring signal are integrated on/in a semiconductor element e.g. integrated circuit (IC). A substrate of the semiconductor element is comprised of silicon germanium.
