An evacuation unit (12) is arranged below the feeding unit for evacuation of empty containers. A transfer unit (13) is provided with a cartridge (21) which swivels and vertically moves up and down. The cartridge is designed for holding the containers during the entire emptying process. An independent claim is included for a method for sequential emptying of containers filled with rod-shaped products into an emptying repository.
