The method involves printing personalization data on a surface (4) of a substrate (1) by a light-absorbing printing ink (3a-3c) for producing a partially produced surface. A light-transparent foil (2) is applied on the printed surface by a laminating process for producing a laminated surface (2a). Parts of the laminated surface are irradiated by laser beams (8, 9), where light wavelength of the beams corresponds to a light wavelength absorbed by the printing ink. An energy value of the laser beams is adjusted such that partial absorption of the laser beam occurs. An independent claim is also included for a device for performing a method for manufacturing a personalization document i.e. data pages, for a passport or smartcard.

Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Personalisierungsdokumentes (11), insbesondere einer Datenseite für einen Reisepass, mit folgenden Schritten: - Drucken von Personalisierungsdaten (12-15) auf mindestens eine Oberfläche (4) eines Substrates (1) mittels lichtabsorbierbarer Drucktinte (3a-3c) zur Erzeugung einer zumindest teilweise bedruckten Oberfläche (4); - Auftragen mindestens einer lichttransparenten Folie (2) auf die bedruckte Oberfläche (4) mittels eines Laminiervorganges zur Erzeugung einer laminierten Oberfläche (2a); und - Bestrahlen von zumindest Teilen der laminierten Oberfläche (2a) mittels mindestens eines Laserlichtstrahles (8,9), dessen Lichtwellenlänge einer durch die Drucktinte (3a-3c) absorbierbaren Lichtwellenlänge entspricht. Es wird eine Vorrichtung und ein Personalisierungsdokument gezeigt.
